I am considering changing careers and have seriously begun to think about nursing. Are male nurses respected in the medical community? Also I already have a Bachelors degree in an unrelated field (non-medical), so would two years of schooling be sufficient to become an RN or would it require another four years. It would seem silly to have two Bachelors degrees. Thank You.
To be honest, most of us (in fact everyone I know) doesn’t think about male nurses any different from female (if they even think about it at all) and I know Jill (top contributor) will weigh in the same. This isn’t the 1950’s anymore.
To get a RN; you have 2 options: get an AA associates RN (2 years) or try & find an accelerated bridge BSRN that is for people with a bachelirs in something else (then it is just the 2 years core nursing program). HOWEVER< both will require you have certain pre-reqs which you may or may not have (such as anatomy & physiology) so that would need to be taken as well. As would any science cores more than about 5 years old.
I heard some kids in school talking about a holistic approach in relation to drug and alcohol addiction. Does anybody know more about it? I’m just interested.
I think it’s a special program given to people who are suffering from alcoholism and drug addiction. They provide treatment and services to help the patient recover faster. There’s a website about the Holistic Approach. I added the link below. It’s really informative.
A year ago i was working out for 1 1/2 hours and running 3 miles a day at a maximum pace. I suffered a back injury, and havent worked out for about 10 months really. I gained about 30lbs, and my blood pressure has gone up a lot. I want to work out as hard as I can because I dont like easy workouts, but is it safe with high blood pressure? Can I hurt myself?
YES!!!!! You can cause a stroke or heart attack or annurisym if you are genetically prone to have one. Go to the Dr. 1st and get on a BP medication and as you work out check your BP frequently. It should lower just because you are working out again and then because you have lost weight and then you probably wont need the meds anymore. But be careful, if you exercise and drop your BP and dont check it you could pass out and doing this while your driving or whatever can be dangerous also. Rule of thumb is check your BP often and know what to do to raise your BP and to lower it quickly if you have to. There are many simple things you can do to lower your BP like bearing down (pushing like you have to go #2, but try not to hold your breath.)
I recall hearing of some source of alternative energy that was based on the motion of the waves. Basically, the waves provided the energy(no giant turbines) and these things functioned like wind mills of the sea. Everything else was blah blah. The inventor of this ingenious device was some high school or college student, I think.
Whatever it is, just tell me the name of the inventor, the name of the thing he/she made, and how it works. I may have placed this question in the wrong place because there really isn’t enough about alternative energy to devote a link to. Remember, inventor, invention and how it works.
The link below leads to a patent on a "wave action energy generation system". The creator/author is M. G. Montgomery.
The abstract/discription is:
The invention is an improvement in the economical generation of energy by providing a system for utilizing the wave action of bodies of water, such as ocean waves.^The system consists of a pair of floating units, each separately connected to a shaft member by a connecting arm, a ratchet-like gear affixed to the shaft member is indexed forward alternately or concurrently by spring loaded pawls affixed to each of the connecting arms from the floating units to the shaft members.^The wave action alternately raising and lowering the floating units concurrently turns the ratchet-like gear through the action of the pawls.^Thus, the turning shaft, properly geared can turn an electric generator, air compressor, or other device of generating another form of energy which can be used or stored for future use.
I don’t know what else you could be asking about.
Volunteer doctors now do over 60% of their work in America. Why wont politicians do anything about this??

Some Unis like Imperial have a 6 year medicine degree whilst King’s has a 5 year degree course in Medicine. Why?
So the 5 year course is for the more intelligent people and the 6 year course just has a foundation year? What is general medicine?
the six year course is for people who dont have the right A levels for the 5 year course so do a foundation year after that it is the same as the 5 year course
