   Not at all. If there is definitely employment thoughout the USA is in the Healthcare Career. So go for it. I am not sure where in the US u are located but in NY you start at 67/68k a year.

   My husband has been working as an MLT since 1993. I showed him your question and he says, yes. He also draws blood, which is something not all MLT’s do. This is the only time he is in contact with patients.

    MLT=Medical Laboratory Technician
    MT=Medical Technologist

    MLT=2 year associate degree
    MT=4 year bachelors degree

    MLT’s usually work subordinate to MT’s but not always. MT’s usually are paid more (more responsibilities).

    The simple answer is that it is easy to get a job after you are trained. But, it depends on where you want to live when you are finished with school. The economy has slowed hiring and new positions down a bit but there are still lots of jobs available. Metropolitan areas still have many openings that are going unfilled.

    Fundamentally, an MLT has an associate degree (2 year) and a MT has a bachelors degree (4 year). In the work place MLT primarily do the bench work and the MT does not only the bench work but usually has supervisory and managerial duties as well. There is considerable overlap depending on where you work.
