I don’t really …
I don’t really think it is TOO demanding.. I’ve been able to do the paramedic traning as well as clinical time while keeping good grades in my pre-med studies as well as studying for the MCAT… it has tought me so much and has been extremely rewarding
the hours for …
the hours for training are too demanding (assuming the individual is taking a regular pre-med workload)
EMT-B training has less requirements, and is still good for clinical exposure, etc
anyone EVER think …
anyone EVER think about becoming a paramedic??… now thats an extracurricular activity worth doing!! (for pre-med students anyways)
if you say test …
if you say test score doesnt matter or if it matters more than extra stuff, then thats just ignorance. b.c test scores shows your knowledge, your ability to memorize and use your knowledge. although extra activities does matter, if you suck in terms of grade, i believe thats still a reflection of your abilities as a possible doctor. so if you really want to be a doctor, then you will WORK for those grades and all that is needed to suceed.
dont complain. if you really want it, then play the game
are you serious? …

Too bad he is not on the med school ADCOM
why are …
why are extra-curricular activities more important than test scores in the admissions process?
Actually, …
Actually, admissions committees place a high value on “upstanding” personal qualities and medically related experiences. In order to reach the interview pool, however, you have to be intelligent enough to do well in medical school, as measured primarily by the MCAT. The thinking tested on the USMLE’s is very similar to the thinking tested on the MCAT. Also, laypersons’ understanding of good vs. bad doctors is often whether or not they are kind to patients rather than ‘are they competent’?.
That professor is …
That professor is an honest man. He has been around and he knows what the reality of life is …just wish these comments would reach the committees admitting some of today’s worst possible choices for a medical student.
god bless
I am majoring in …
I am majoring in biology, but of course the journey is rich in chemistry and physics. Do you think Ill be ok?
This guy is my hero …
This guy is my hero! Test scores are NOT all that matters, a person can just be a bad test taker, but could make a great doctor.
