the way i always understood it was that the epithelium (cells) that GIVES RISE to bronchial lumens or bronchial glands (mucus) is the epithelium which undergoes malignant transformation, to me this makes sense

I am a resident and …
I am a resident and when taking a med student tutorial, I was asked “How can respiratory epithelium form adenocarcinoma? There are no glands in respiratory epithelium”.
The only answer I could think of is that it is a tumour arising from epithelium so it is a ‘carcinoma’ and it forms glandular structures so it gets the ‘adeno’ and that I assume it is some sort of embryological memory…

Would you have a better explanation for this question?
