Is there a tried and true holistic treatment for canine heartworm?
I’ve been researching for weeks as I have a dog that tested positive for heartworm. The traditional treatments seem cruel at best. Has anyone tried and successfully cured/managed heartworm in a canine using holistic methods?
It would have been best to use a preventative to begin with. now you must suffer the consequences, as will your pet. The only other real option is euthanasia or a painful death.

No. The vet’s treatment is difficult but usually extremely succesful. The best way to treat heartworms is to prevent it in the first place. Prevention such as Heartguard are extremely effective and easy to administer (they make tasty chews you can give as a treat or mixed with food once a month.
It is more cruel to allow the infestation to advance- dogs frequently die from heartworm infestations- than to treat.

You can buy all sorts of holistic products that will CLAIM to treat heartworm. The odds of them actually working are minuscule. Heartworm is a very serious condition. Just use your Vet’s advise to treat it. Don’t risk endangering your dog’s life.

What treatments are you talking about? That seem cruel???
Your vet should be able to help…there is a reason why medicine for that disease was created. If there was a proven natural remedy, there would be no need for medicine…

No, there is no holistic treatmetn for heartworm.
Had the dog been on heatworm preventative, like Heatguard Plus or Interceptor, he would not have to go thru the "cruel:" medical treatment.
What was cruel was allowing the infestation in the first place.
